At Villa Pandanus we can arrange trips to visit the many sites of interest around Rodrigues. These include:
Ile aux Cocos ("Cocos Island")
is a small island lying west of Rodrigues in the lagoon. It is a nature reserve known for its colonies of sea birds that include noddies, lesser noddies and fairy terns. The excursion includes a transfer to and from the boat, the boat trip to and from the island, a meal on the island and a guided tour of the nature reserve.
Caverne Patate
with a length of 1057 metres is the longest cave in Mauritius and Rodrigues. It is located in the south of the island. There are numerous formations of stalagmites and stalactites that have have created curious shapes in the coral rock over many years. The last chamber is 26 metres high.
Francois Leguat Giant Tortoise and Cave Reserve
is recreating Rodrigues as it used to be with the re-introduction of giant tortoises to Rodrigues. The site lies on 20 acres in Anse Quitor in the south of the island. Over 100,000 shrubs and trees of native and endemic species have been planted. There are also large caves that can be visited within the reserve.
Diving
can be arranged with a local dive master to visit the many spectacular underwater sites of Rodrigues. Based at Port Mathurin, the dive centre is easily accessible from Grand Bay.
